1. Who we are

Safiri Horizons ("we", "us", "our") is a tour operator based in Nairobi, Kenya, offering bespoke African travel journeys to clients worldwide. This policy explains what personal information we collect through safirihorizons.co.ke, why we collect it, and how it's handled.

2. Information we collect

We only collect what you give us directly, through these forms:

• Booking requests — full name, email, phone/WhatsApp number, country of residence, destination interest, number of travellers, preferred travel month, budget range, and any notes you add.
• Contact form — full name, email, country, subject, and your message.
• Newsletter sign-up — email address only.
• Account creation (optional) — name and email, used to show your saved booking requests when you sign in.

3. How we use your information

We use it to respond to your enquiry, prepare and follow up on booking requests, send updates if you've subscribed to our newsletter, and improve the site. We do not use your information for automated profiling or targeted advertising.

4. How your information is stored

Booking, contact, and newsletter submissions are processed through Netlify Forms and forwarded to our team's email inboxes, hosted with Zoho Mail. Both providers process this data on our behalf as service providers, not as independent owners of it.

If you create an account, your name, email, a securely hashed (never plain-text) password, and any saved booking references are stored only in your own browser's local storage — not on a server. Clearing your browser data or switching devices will remove this information, and it is never transmitted to us as part of the account system itself.

5. Cookies & local storage

We use browser local storage (not tracking cookies) to remember your currency and dark/light mode preference, and — if you sign in — your demo account session. We do not currently use third-party advertising or analytics cookies. If that changes in the future, we'll update this policy.

6. Sharing your information

We never sell or rent your personal information. It's shared only with the service providers named above (Netlify, Zoho) strictly to operate the site and respond to you, and with our own travel specialists internally to fulfil your request.

7. Data retention

We retain booking and contact submissions for as long as reasonably needed to respond to your enquiry and maintain business records, after which they're periodically deleted.

8. Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you at any time by emailing hello@safirihorizons.co.ke. As a Kenyan business, we handle these requests in line with the principles of Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019.

9. International visitors

We welcome travellers from every country, and your information may be processed on servers located outside your home country (our hosting and email providers operate infrastructure internationally). We take reasonable steps to keep it secure regardless of where it's processed.

10. Children's privacy

Our site is intended for adults planning travel. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services evolve. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
